Sara League has served as the church pianist or organist at Immanuel since 1985. For 40 years, she has blessed this faith community with the beautiful artistry of her piano playing, and the thoughtfulness of her music selections. Each Sunday, she carefully chooses her music for reflection to tie-in to the theme for worship or the sermon scripture. Anyone who is not a musician or theologian may not recognize what a difficult task this is, but the seriousness with which she has taken her role has enhanced our worship tremendously.

On Sunday, August 31, Sara will retire from a life-long career as church pianist. Though she and Bennie will not be leaving Immanuel (they’re stuck with us forever), Sara will begin wearing a new hat as “just” a church member for the first time since she was 13 years old.

We will miss Sara’s music more than we can say, and our gratitude for all she has given this community cannot be stated fervently enough. Sara’s beautiful playing reverberates off the wall of the sanctuary and seeps into our hearts, such that we can’t help but be abundantly grateful that she has shared her talents with us as long as she has.

Please thank Sara when you see her and be sure to tell her how much her playing has meant to you!
