At this point in 2023, we are on track to serve at least as many families as last year, and likely more. Calls for assistance have been slowly increasing in the past 4 months, with three-quarters of those served this year being served since the first of May. We will also be participating in our community wide ImmanuelFest event in mid-October, which will allow us to reach a good number of folks who might not otherwise receive our services. The following figures reflect our year-to-date service figur

Since January 1, we have served 21 families, 15 of whom were new to the IRC. Only 3 of these families were served more than once. We served a total of 24 children, with 20 being new to our ministry.

The following is a list of the items provided to the 21 families served: 82 baby supplies (bottles, wash, lotion, wipes, etc.); 38 cloth goods (blankets, bibs, etc.); 17 large packages of diapers; 5 cribs and 5 crib mattresses; 9 Car seats; 1 Bathtub; 1 Pack’n Play and 1 Pack’n Play mattress; 1 Table booster seat; 2 Bouncy seats; and 7 cans of formula.

We would also like to report that the baby shower for Sara Early Jenkins (Baby Joe), which was organized by Becky Tippett, Joni Crowe, and Darlene Craycroft, resulted in several items being donated to the IRC as follows: 20 packs of diapers; 14 packs of wipes; 2 packs of bibs; 2 packs of swaddle me sleepwear; 9 bottles of wash; 5 bottles of lotion; 3 pacifiers; 2 baby thermometers and 2 nursing mothers books. We truly appreciate Sara’s thoughtfulness in asking that items be donated to the IRC to help serve others rather than receiving items for her Baby Joe.

We continue to provide each child served with an age-appropriate book through the book project initiated by Karen Dungan a few years ago and supported by the Lydia Greear BMW group. We continue to have a good supply of books and have given out books to almost every family served.

The IRC continues to carry out its mission to share God’s love in tangible ways with those in our community who are struggling. We have been told several times, both by clients and social workers alike, that there was nowhere else to go for some of the items we provide such as cribs and car seats. We can do this only because of your continued generosity and support, which is greatly appreciated by everyone, especially those who need our help. Our sincere thanks to all who help in any way.
